I was born in the
state of Ohio and raised in the country.
My father was a carpenter and worked for the some of the many furniture
factories in that part of the state. It
was there I got “religion” and became a convert forever to upholding law and
order.
When I got older, I left
home for the Western frontier. I tried
gold mining for a time in the Arizona Territory and moved to Texas shortly
thereafter. It was here in Texas that I
was sworn to uphold the law and wage war against the criminal elements of our
society.
I volunteered my assistance
as a chaplain in the War Between the States.
I got a bellyful of blood and guts and held the heads of many dying
soldiers. This senseless killing
ignited a fire in me against all forms of injustice . . . and that is my
devoted purpose today.
