I was born in Texas, my Pa worked hard on the farm and my Ma worked even harder it seemed teachin' us.  My brother became a law man, my sister a school teacher. When my baby sister died with the small pox, it broke my mother's heart and her spirit, but not her faith.

I vowed to learn all I could about medicine after that.  I read all I could and my teacher helped.  I had no formal schoolin', but I befreinded the town doctor and studied under him.  After he died I took over.

I married the town sheriff and many a times he had to hold a gun on a stubborn patient to allow a woman to "doctor" him.  My husband finally taught me to shoot for my own protection.  Actually I am quite good, although my hands are made for preserving life not taking it.

The Great Physican, my Lord and Savior gave me mt gift and I thank him for it.
